FREE STEP ITALIA aims to spread a message of equality, mutual respect and solidarity based on the rejection of any form of discrimination, with the awareness that diversity is a source of enrichment for everyone and it does so by teaching the Free Step dance: «Dance that is not just a dance» Between the 16th and 19th centuries, enslaved Africans brought it from the Kongo to Charleston, South Carolina, as the Juba dance, which then slowly evolved into what is now the Charleston dance. The name «Charleston» was given to the Juba dance by European Americans. In Brazil, Charleston dance, evolved in 2009 into what is now Free Step dance.
